As a practicing attorney in West Chicago, I have always been concerned that our children are receiving the best education possible so they have the tools to achieve a fruitful and prosperous life.
This is especially true for at-risk children. I have been afforded the honor of joining the Educare of West DuPage Board of Directors to help achieve these goals.
Educare was developed to combine the latest evidence based strategies; research and science to put into practice those programs to help vulnerable infants, toddlers and preschoolers build those necessary skills to give them an advantage in their later stages of education.
These programs develop the skills these children need to make sure they are ready to proceed on their educational journey so that one child is left behind.
It helps to instill in these children the desire to learn and go further on in their early academic lives.
As an additional benefit to these children, it helps assist the parents and families of these children of those trials and tribulations facing these at-risk children in their early childhood life and educational development.
No matter if it is social, economic, developmental disabilities or any other impediment facing these children, Educare has programs that are specially designed towards those children and includes the family into the learning process.
Educare is not a public educational program but a partnership between the private and public sectors to develop a present and future vision to better prepare disadvantaged children to succeed in school as well as in life.
As the newest board member, it is encouraging to see the involvement of the private sector with the public (educational) sector in these programs and studies to decide what specific learning tools are necessary and how these tools should be implemented.
It is my fondest hope that this program can be expanded to include all those children who need assistance throughout our area. I encourage people to get involved with this organization and similar organizations because, “our children are our future.”
