As we begin the 2025–26 school year, the heart of our work in CUSD 200 is our students. Every decision we make, every classroom experience we create and every goal we set is designed to help students feel connected, cared for and challenged to reach their full potential.
Our students are curious, hardworking and involved—and they deserve schools where they feel both a strong sense of belonging and the encouragement to achieve at high levels. Last year, 96.5% of our students reported feeling connected to their school community. That sense of belonging is powerful: it builds confidence, keeps students engaged, and opens the door for them to explore new opportunities inside and outside the classroom. This strong foundation has enabled us to positively impact many areas of our schools – safety, attendance, learning and participation in athletics and activities
Because of our students’ dedication—and the support of their families and teachers—we are seeing exciting growth:
16% increase in students demonstrating proficiency in high school math over the last three years.
15% increase in students demonstrating proficiency in high school English over the last three years.
6% increase in high school students participating in athletics and activities over the last three years.
4.4% decrease in chronic absenteeism district-wide over the last two years.
7.5% increase in students connected to school over the last three years.
Ranked in the 96th percentile (top 4 percent) amongst all Illinois School Districts in student safety.
Behind each of these numbers is a student story—a student who felt seen and supported by a teacher, a student who found a love for learning, who discovered confidence through a new activity and one who built lasting friendships.
We have tremendous students, families, educators and staff in our district that we are so thankful for. Our amazing teachers and specialists do outstanding work in challenging, supporting and caring for all our students. We are grateful for the families who partner with us, and for the educators who make a daily difference in the lives of students. But above all, we are proud of our students. Their growth, their dedication and their experiences are at the center of everything we do in CUSD 200.
Here’s to a school year filled with connection, learning, and an incredible journey of growth for our students.
