The City of West Chicago invites residents to visit downtown and view the annual Veterans Day Display, featuring banners honoring local veterans who have served our country. The banners will be on display through the last week of November.

Through this annual program, the City proudly recognizes the men and women who have called West Chicago home and celebrates their dedication to our country.

This year, the City is honored to add the following individuals to the program:

• Alvin "Tuffy" Dierschow (1942–1946, U.S. Army)
• Bill Tessler (1965–1968, U.S. Army)
• Dionne Horton (2013–2020, U.S. Army)
• Eugene D. Sheahan (1950–1954, U.S. Navy)
• Gregory Rauch (1976–1978, U.S. Marine Corps)
• Jake Mroz (1979–1988, U.S. Army)
• John Howard (1963–1965, U.S. Army)
• Scottie Turney (1984–1995, U.S. Navy)
• Shaun Young (1988–1992, U.S. Air Force)
• Tom Tessler (1965–1967, U.S. Army)

With these additions, the display features 76 local veterans. Each banner tells a story of service and sacrifice, providing an opportunity for the community to reflect on the contributions of those who have served and the families who have supported them.

Residents are encouraged to visit downtown, view the banners, and join the City in recognizing the veterans who have helped shape our community.
